I have been at sites which have defeated even the best of heralds, making
court next to impossible to hear clearly. Sounds have either ended up
reverberating badly or being so muffled as to be impossible to clearly
understand. This is part and parcel of the problem of courts.
The biggest problem at Court this past weekend at Crown Tournament is that
it was held in the feast hall, which was filled with tired, hungry folks
waiting to be fed, who had to wait for the Pelican meeting to end so Court
could begin so feast could start.......and it all compounded on itself. The
tourney ran late so the Pel meeting ran late so court ran late so feast ran
late..........and so on. I think that the biggest problem was the scheduling
of the Pelican meeting. That ought to have been held in the morning before
the tournament, then feast should have been held immediately after the
conclusion of the tourney, then Court after that. The site opened at 8:30
a.m. and did not close until 11:30 p.m., so there would have been adequate
time to do everything. I can understand wanting to get everything out of the
way to allow people to take care of their dinner plans, whether going off
site to a restaurant or staying for feast. I just think there could have
been somewhat better scheduling of several things.
YMMV..................
