I have an idea.
I think that at large events where there is to be a protracted court full of
tired and hungry folks, a type of "court program" could be prepared in
advance. Example, someone is to be awarded a Purple Fret and the house is
packed with gentles whose attentions are wandering and many people are
yacking away- the commentary that is usually delivered (unheard) by the
Crown could be presented in printed form for people to read at their leisure
during the court or afterwards. This could speed things up alot at these
events where there are ALOT of folks. Sometimes it doesn't matter how well
you project, the room is too large. You could scream your head off and it
would not be heard by everyone. So, you could tell who was recieving what by
the order of the program and because the high praises from the Crown are
printed and right there in your hand, you may be a bit more pre-disposed to
remember who has accomplished what. Think of how you can use the back issues
of the Pale to quickly refresh your memory about policy changes etc.
So, the gentle recieving the award (and their accomplishments) would be
called and handed their scroll and things would move right along. Then, when
you are reading the program you can take in all the info about their
accomplishments and its always there to refer back to in case you want to
contact them with questions etc...
"Who was that lady who made the amazing 14th century hats? She recieved an
award at (event name), I'll just dig out the Court program and read up on
her and get her contact info." It seems like that this could save alot of
wasted energy at these huge courts where people can't shut up. Smaller
courts would not need a printed supplement because everyone can hear and
court does not drag along.
Sounds like it could save alot of time and wear on the Crown...
