The site in question was a high school laid out like a college campus,
i.e. several large buildings in one city block. The list was held
outside, the Pel meeting was held elsewhere and by order of the King all
activities were suspended during the final bouts of the list. So no
meetings could be held until after the final bout. I suppose the
meeting could have been held before that but I imagine most Pelicans
were involved in other activities. I know several were busy with the
viguals, watching the list, fighting in the list, or doing merchanting
and A&S things.
Court was held in the schools cafeteria and if I am correct, held
before feast by wish of the Crown since one of their Majesties had to
leave site early. If I'm not correct, I'm sure someone will correct me.
I agree it was noisy, I agree it was difficult to hear anything going
on up front. Mind you, this is a cafeteria built for a school holding
over three thousand students. So aucostics were lousy. There was a lot
of business in this court and it was delayed to begin with. The main
problems were caused by a cascade of events, most out of the hosting
Baronies hands. I agree projection was a problem, I couldn't even hear
Moonwolf sing Pennsic and that was before court. I so wanted to hear him
do that song live.... :( (I was serving near the back.) People did
talk...but if I remember right, I never heard another call to order
after the first. I don't know if this could be done in court but I do
know it's been done at our meetings and at fighter practice announcments
when the talking got too loud.
As I said, I was in the far back, near the kitchen and the only thing I
could hear from the front was the herald calling each new person
forward, then long periods of murmurs before another was called. And I
try to pay attention in courts even if I don't know any of the people
involved because I wish they would be courtious enough to do the same if
I or one of my house were in front.
'nough said. That's my pennies worth.....
