I have been to many courts, and I have to say that there is some talk of
the kind you are describing, who is that, what does that particular hat
or device thingy mean, etc.
But the other 90% is just plain gab. Guess what so-and-so said, did you
see such-and-such necklace in the merchant room, my job is crappy, my
dog is colicky, blah, blah, blah.
I admit I have been guilty of this myself. However, it is rude and
inconsiderate to everyone else in the room who is trying to hear what is
being said. I know that when I want to hear, and the people behind me
refuse to shut up, it really makes me mad.
