I like that idea about holding the award and having a list of people who
should present themselves except I also would love to be totally surprised
by getting the award. Any ideas on how to do something like that without
giving that away? Also what we did once as a shire-several of us were at an
event where one of our shire members was called into court to receive a
Guide Star. This person was not at the event, and we knew that she had
never been able to recieve an award in court and wanted to. This event
happened to be the weekend before an event in our shire that their
Highnesses would be attending, so our group's herald went up to recieve it,
but instead of taking the scroll, explained the situation and they agreed to
hold it and present it to her at our event. The bunch of us at the event
swore an oath of silence to make it a total surprise for her. It was
wonderful to watch her recieve it the next weekend-and see the reaction to
how we'd kept it a secret. :)
