I dealt with it in another way-by planning an event with long delays between
removes anyway-I understand that this can't always be done, but it is a
thought, and the first remove was all items I was able to prepare ahead of
time and serve without them being ruined-pita bread with hummus, stuffed
grape leaves with cucumber sauce, mushrooms and olives, things like that.
And with delays between removes already planned, we would have been okay
with a delay in the start time-we would have simply eliminated some of the
delay between removes. I will say again that I know not every feast can be
planned in that way. We also could have set out the "appetizer remove" had
there been a major delay in the beginning of feast. As it worked out, court
was held between first and second remove and the entertainment was all
during the period between the second and dessert removes and while people
were eating dessert. It worked out extremely well for us. And I was happy
with how it all turned out-I had a lot to live up to as a first time
feastocrat in our shire-and the comments I received afterward led me to
believe that I succeded :)
