These are the details as I know them:
The funeral will be tomorrow (Sunday December 5) at two. The services will be
held at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home at 105 W. 3rd St in Peru, IN. There will not
be a graveside service since Abu wished to be cremated. Those wishing to send
memorials should address them to the Peru chapter of the Lions Club in the name of
Frank Drake.
Even after seeing the casket and talking with his wife it will take some time
for me to accept that this sweet gentle giant of a man is gone. Tramping around
camp with his dirty feet in worn out sandals, sampling every variety of mead that
he made, getting a bear hug the size of Montana, swapping dirty jokes around the
camp fire; this is only a fraction of what he was to me. My favorite image of him
is of course his face wearing a big toothy grin surrounded by a greying beard that
contained the occasional crumb of food.
Thank you, Abu.
