By virtue of having gotten to my computer first, it is my happy duty to
report that Their Majesties, Finn and Tamara, have placed Mistress
Rosamund Beauvisage on vigil for the order of the Pelican. The vigiling
was not like any I have seen before and, I think, involved a certain
degree of torment for poor Rosamund; but she's tough and will recover.

I don't know the logistics of how Rosamund will address Their Majesties'
charge that she think on this matter and accept or refuse the additional
duties of the pelicanate; but I do know that the matter will meet its
resolution at Ceilidh this spring.

Others have known Rosamund far longer than I and will, perforce, have
superior anecdotes to any I can supply. Nonetheless, here are my
thoughts on the matter:

I arrived in this kingdom something less than 3 years ago. At that time,
one lady I noticed rather quickly was Mistress Rosamund, who was running
an intriguing raffle to pay for new crowns for our royalty. In that
people called her "mistress" and in that she very clearly talked the
talk and walked the walk I would expect of a good pelican, I assumed
that she was one. Nothing happened to correct my error until I saw her
name on a pelican polling.

In my opinion, my error was a reasonable one, as I think Rosamund was
already a pelican when I met her. She simply hadn't received the award,
yet.

Congratulations, Mistress Rosamund. I would say "Keep up the good work",
but I know that such a statement is unnecessary.

Dr. Henry Best, O.P.
