Thanks!
Their Highnesses have asked me to help them arrange live music for
dancing at their coronation. Their Coronation is April 29th in Allen
Park, MI (just South of Detroit). They have some neat ideas about
dancing during the 'below-the-salt' feast. They also hope to have some
dancing after Their court in the evening.
The below-the-salt feat is going to be a buffet style feast, and is
being held in a large enough room to have dancing and eating at the same
time. The idea would be to play for dancing as the feast is going on.
We would need enough people so that we could rotate who is playing and
who is eating, so that there is always music for those who want to
dance.
I plan on having a set or two of dances selected for the dancing after
court so that we can get music to people if they need/want to practice.
Also, it will provide a chance to have several dances in a row without
resorting to a 'boom box.' This should help to create a more intimate
atmosphere with the live musicians as an integral part of the scene.
Any input on what dances would be appropriate for these sets would help
a lot!
Lastly, I will organize a 'jam session' area during the day. This will
allow people who are unfamiliar with some of the music to get a feel for
it before performing it for live dancing! We should also be able to
play some non-dance music that sounds like fun. I would really like to
play one or two of the dances on loud instruments! If anyone plays
louds, please bring them along.
Let me know if you, or others in your area, might be able to help, or if
you have any questions. You can e-mail me at mieczko@home.com
In Service,
Sir Mieczko
