LOL. Now I have friends who'll debate with you the Counselor Troi bit.
Especially since they call ME "Jonathan Troi" like I'm her son. The reason
they do this is becuase, for whatever actuall psychological reasoning, etc.
I've picked up, I'm usually able to tell what actual mod everyone is in, no
matter what. My friends all think it's very strange and scary.
I've seen through friends and would wind up saying something by accident,
but it jars them because they realize I've noticed their real mood and they
feel they have to drop their front for everybody. One of the best stories I
have on this was with my niece.
She was having a full blown ignore day. She wouldn't respond to her
mother. She acted like her borther and sister weren't there. She wouldn't
talk with grandmother. She didn't seem mad or upset, hurt, she just seemed
like she was trying to be snooty in a way. I showed up and said hey to
everyone. My niece tried to ignore me, and everyone told me she was having
a miffed day. When my niece finally did say something to me, I stopped and
looked at her and said... "Casey! I know it's no the best time for a new
woman, but how could you act like this and not tell your mother?"
My niece's jaw hit the floor and she walked to room and quietly shut the
door when we heard "I can't believe he knows!"
I then had to explain to my sister and mom for twenty minutes that the
(grand)daughter was "a woman" today and may need some assistance.
My sister told me I was full of hooey, went back to help her daughter and
came back an hour later saying "How did you know, and mom and I not?!?"
Needless to say when I've pulled quite a few things like this off, this
topic was very interesting to read. Then again if I'm the son of Troi maybe
I should just say "I feel his lying Capt. He's hiding something." Isn't
that what she says all the time? (And she's one of my favorite characters
from ST:TNG too. :) )
