My dear lady:
I finally had a chance to read through several days worth of 'Bridge
backlog, and was amused to see that someone else has the problem I do
when it comes to algebra.
I can do it in practical application, but don't ask me to do it in
theory.
I can figure warp and weft, I can figure how much yarn to use when I
need to enlarge a sweater for gauge. I can figure out how much extra
cloth I will need to make garb for me.
Just don't ask me to use a variable, because letters are language
and numbers are math.
I have failed the dread course not once, not twice, but four
separate times (1 high school, 3 college). I was lucky that the
college I attended had a very liberal policy regarding math credits
when I graduated. I found out that I didn't need a math credit. :-)
If anyone would like to try to get me any farther than quadratic
equations, be my guest.
Margaret
