Good lady, please don't take my reply as indicative of the Order of the
Chivalry. I have no affiliation with that honorable Order other than I have
the honor to know a few Knights, and am an authorized fighter now for about 7
months. I would not care to have the shortcomings in my posting blamed upon
the Order of the Chivalry. Please accept my apologies for my errors, and rest
assured I did not speak for any order of the SCA.
I, like you, have aggitated for the re-evaluation of a member of the Order of
the Chivalry, and found that the Midrealm's Court of Chivalry process is very
cumbersome and unsatisfactory. Because Laurels, Pelicans and Knights are made
by kings and queens, but can only be removed by the Board of Directors of
SCA, Inc, we have very little by way of a stick to hold over mis-behaving
members of the Peerage.
I would urge you to read what proposed changes to Corpora the Grand Council
is hammering out, as well as aggitate for the MidRealm's rules to be modified
to make Courts of Chivalry more likely of succeeding. Good Sir Wiliam of
Fairhaven was kind enough to point out to me that the Midrealm has *never*
successfully concluded a Court of Chivalry. Perhaps your energies might be
better directed there to help correct future misdeeds from our Peers, rather
than focus on the past. As we all know, the past can not be changed. But, if
you give the future tools to deal with problems that happen in the future,
you will effect great change to come.
