According to the accompanying book it was lard. Did you notice the odd-shaped
lump of butter on the extreme left?

It was a "sweetmeat" pie. Mostly fruit filling; might have had some meat in
in but we recognized figs, etc. Can't find my notes right now and the picture
is fairly small in the accompanying book.
