Uh, you know that old saw about a little knowledge? While I'm willing to
believe that 40% of the lead in consumer landfills is from electronics, I
think that has more to do with the fact that there is probably very little
lead to be found in a modern landfill, not that consumer electronics
contains high percentages of lead. Also, using lead paint as a benchmark is
a misleading comparison since metallic lead and lead acetate are totally
different animals.
The real reason to recycle anything remains that we produce way too much
trash and are rapidly running out of a place to put it. Not as alarming in
the short term, but....
