Championships (at least here) are indeed events, not "excuses," and no
one is excluded from attending. There is plenty of fighting once the
martial champions have been chosen. Middle Marches was pleased to have
a category in A&S for those outside the Barony as well. Feasting is a
pleasure anyone wishing to can enjoy. Our last Championship was just as
meticulously planned and presented as any major event has been. In
point of fact, they all have been.
interbaronial, intergroup helping with demos (as I'm sure, so does the
rest of the KW), since there is a lot of giving and taking of members in
this area due to modern jobs or what have you and old ties do not die.
There are many who can verify this, if verification is necessary. My
lord and I still play in Constellation when we can and camp with our old
Indiana group at Pennsic because of those same strong ties.
Overcrowding one's calendar with yet another item - and an untried one,
at that - is no one's friend and there is always that modern life and
it's concerns that has to be balanced with this one. Being dismissive
about the concerns raised in M. Gwyneth's post won't further the
project.
