The Detroit Free Press has a comic strip called Liberty Meadows. I revolves
around the lives of misfit animals in a pet sanctuary. In the first panel
of today's strip (10/27/00) Dean, the male chauvinist pig (literally a pig),
walks into a restaurant and says "Hello, Jen" to a buxom blonde he hits on
regularly. Jen responds, "Hello, Dean." In the 2nd and last panel Dean is
leaving and says "Goodbye, Jen." whereupon Jen, who is now holding a large
Viking axe says, "Goodbye, Dean."
Liberty Meadows humor is often obscure, and in this case I'm curious to know
how many readers get the joke. I took me a few seconds until I saw that Jen
had the letters "SCA" on her t-shirt.
