Pennsic is an Al-Thing to me. I read a description of Al-Thing in Iceland
in a book by Magnusson once. It basically talked about a two-week assembly
where people camped out in temporary booths, had markets and competitions,
got to see people they hadn't seen for a year and occasionally (I have as
wallpaper a scene from Thingvellir which shows the Island used for holmgang
fought each other). Okay, Al-Thing also had all the legal and judicial
stuff...but then there's been Board meetings re Pennsic before, so...
