What makes this story even more appropriate is the fact that Laurelen
and yes, I believe that both he and the herald's know that.
Darksbane is a name taken straight from Tolkien. Laurelen being one of the
trees that provided light to the Elven Realm over the seas to the west.
Laurelen was destroyed by Morgoth, Sauron's lord in the First Age of Middle
Earth.
