I always thought that it is the person being elevated's choice - unless the
Crown has objections.

If the person does not want to be elevated, they can say NO, BUT the order
(pick one) has a clue of if they want it or not, (99% of the time) The
Society (remember when you get elevated it is a REAL NEW ball of wax) does
not want to look like an idiot as we would get you in front of all the
Kingdom, Society and you go "Naaaaaaaaaa"

That would look SOOOOOOOOOO good! (ACK)

 YOU have say yes or no before the final elevation ceremony...Normally, the
orders & TRM know before!
