The Emerald Beast Prowls Again

April 27, 2002

Site is open all weekend. Fri. troll starting noon.
Saturday troll opens 8 am, closes 5 pm. Site closes Sunday 3 pm.
Walnut Grove Campgrounds, Route 131, Tiffin, Ohio 44883

Please join us for our second annual spring event in a beautiful OUTDOOR
site with a feast hall. We will be offering armored combat, rapier, archery,
and boffer. The feast is limited to 100; we have the same great Feastocrat
as last year! Send preregistration fees to Autocrat by April 13. There are
SHOWERS and FLUSHIES on site. The site is handicapped accessible. The SITE
IS WET. Pets must be on a leash except when coursing. We hope to have an
artisan's area for blacksmithing, armor making, etc.; please contact the
Autocrats for more info. There is a playground with a pirate ship. We will
have greyhound coursing (if the weather cooperates). This year, parking will
be close to the martial activities. We will also have almost exclusive use
of the campground. Note: Camping overnight is optional. There are no
scheduled activities on Sunday.

Martial activities will range over seven acres of grass, a pond, and gentle
hills. The armored combat will include:
        Double elimination tourney
        Full melee
        Bridge battle
        Island brawl (5 vs. 5)
        And a surprise battle
There will be a herald's calling contest for the tourney, with a prize for
the best introduction by a herald (like Chaucer in A Knight's Tale.)

FEES: Adults $4 in advance, $5 at troll; children 6-18 $2.50 in advance, $3
at troll. Camping overnight is $15 per site per night (lower than last
year!); this includes site fees for 2 adults and their children. Feast $10
in advance, $12 at troll; children under 12 half price (lap sitters free).
Merchant space outdoors; the only fee is one item to be donated for prizes
(preregister with Lady Briana). Make checks out to: SCA-Gateway to the
Emerald Moors.
