This is basically one of the famed Arthurian Legends, entitled "Sir Gawain
and the Loathly Lady". It is also known as "Sir Gawain and Lady Ragnelle".
Curious as to why you seem to feel that it is somehow "politically
incorrect". Since these tales were collected by Thomas Mallory and published
in the 15th c., he obviously wrote them with a mindset of the period. Women
were far more "liberated" than we imagine them to be during the Middle Ages,
if you are referring to the tale being somehow "politically incorrect" for
the Mediaeval period.
Read "Medieval Women" by Eileen Power (ISBN 0521595568) $13.00. It's a real
eye opener as to what Mediaeval women were really like. And if you've been
buying those "Mediaeval Women" calendars for as many years as I have and
have read each month's little feature, you can learn a great deal as well.
