After seeing the pr release, we contacted the United Way before the event,
who said that the 9-11 Fund was still accepting donations but not
encouraging them and that the United Way would contact us if this changed.
Since we had announced that the moneys would be going for that purpose, we
think it would be improper to give the moneys to another fund when they had
been donated for a specific purpose. We have delivered the moneys to the
United Way, earmarked for the fund.

The impetus for the auction was a desire to make a statement about an
incident that ultimately deprived us of our site, forcing us to make
considerable compromises and changes. If we had announced that the moneys
were just going to charities, suggestions of other recipients would be
gratefully received. Thanks for your interest, and I hope that you
understand our decisions.
