Well, we've started the Big Kitchen Project(tm).
Got home from work yesterday to find Thaddeus already carefully
removing the asbestos shingles from the outside of our pantry. (You
can't buy these anymore, and we have to piece in around the new door
we're installing, so they have to be removed very carefully)
Then the FUN began...with hammer, crowbar, and muscles, he began
tearing off the red cedar siding below the asbestos shingles. Lots
of noise, lots of sweat, and best of all...DESTRUCTION. :-) Haven't
seen him this happy since we busted out the old built-in cabinets in
that kitchen fourteen years ago. He turned to me at one point, with
a big grin, saying "hey, this is FUN."
Give me a collective Tim Taylor GRUNT, guys! Ugh ugh ugh. (Ah, I
love the smell of testosterone in the afternoon)
So, instead of spending money at a gem show Saturday, we're stayin'
home and paying cash for a new sliding glass door and putting it in
this weekend. Woohoo! I can't wait to have all that extra natural
light in the kitchen. Just about everything else we're planning will
be taking place indoors, so getting this part done as soon as
possible is really a smart move(tm).
