While La Maupin is pretty interesting historical person, I don't quite
understand why you would base an SCA tournament on someone close to 100 years post
period (1670-1707).
It seems the the rapier community regularly faces criticsm from folks who
argue at least portions of the activity are not period (specifically
pre-seventeenth century). Doesn't this choice for a tournament (and your specific mention
that she was a 17th century swordwoman) simply throw fuel on that fire?
Am I missing something?
