I'm in the same boat. My high school was a crummy little redneck school
where, the year after I graduated, they changed the rules so that no
student could take *more than* three PhysEd classes (out of seven) in a
semester and still graduate. No, I'm *not* joking. "History" meant, "How
many basketball games did we win last month?" Think "Deliverance" but with
no river.

Then in college I double majored in two branches of engineering, and still
managed to get done in 4 years plus a summer. I had no free electives at
all, and therefore got an education that was top-notch in my field but
certainly not well-rounded otherwise.

I've never had an interest in history at all, except for WWII, until I
joined the SCA. Even now, I'm not likely to dive in and spend hundreds of
hours reading books about the Medici family's intrigues and inter-marriages.
But I would love to know more than I do now, if for no other reason than
so I could answer questions from the public better at demos.

So, count this as another vote from a person who couldn't *teach* this
class but would love to attend it if it were offered.
