Some of my favorites:

600s: Horse shoes become common.

793: A paper factory is opened in Bagdad. (Not widespread in Europe
until the 13th century).

800s: Horse collar first appears in European countries. Soap also
spreads throughout Europe.

10th Century: the use of hops in the brewing of beer starts to spread
(between 10th and 14th centuries).

11th century: horizontal loom. Mechanized in the 12th century.

1126: percussion drilling used by Carthusian monks.

1170s: rat traps are well known.

1180: first recorded use of glass mirros.

1185: first recorded use of windmills.

12th c: compass in use by western europe

1285: spectacles invented in Italy.

13th century: my favorite - Arabic numbers used in Europe (and
outlawed in Italy for a time)

13th c: first illustration of a wheelbarrow.

14th c: cannon first used.

What I love about the middle ages in Europe was that although not much
science was done, there was a ton of engineering occuring during that
period.
