But, Giulia, if the messages are clipped to only what is appropriate, there is
no need to "Scroll down" -- no more than a line or two of what is being
responded to is needed (as demonstrated here, which is considered "good
netiquette) for the subject. This puts the response in a proper, and logical,
context.
It all comes down to courtesy, in my mind -- and a desire to be able to make sense.
A whole discussion needn't be -- and shouldn't be -- repeated over and over.
This is what top-posting does, as people forget to clip what is below their
response, and it builds up.
Frankly, it's why I dropped Midbridge once or twice before and stopped reading
it altogether. I don't understand how people can't understand that example one,
below, makes more sense than example two:
---------------------------
EXAMPLE ONE:
> Are you going to be able to go to Crown?
I wish I could, but I won the lottery and have to pick up my new Jaguar.
EXAMPLE TWO:
I wish I could, but I won the lottery and have to pick up my new Jaguar.
> Are you going to be able to go to Crown?
-----------------------------
Now consider that there are series of questions and topics. How else do you deal
with that but interlacing the text? And then the flow is destroyed by posting a
response at the top of the subject.
