Haaallllllloooooo out there!!!!! Gee, it's kinda quiet around here. Maybe
I should spark some conversation! [CAPS below for emphasis, not shouting.
I never shout. <blink, blink>]

Wonderpest here again, and NOT asking for goods or money. I'm here to spark
conversation and provide information (yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking
to it) about the upcoming RUM in Midlands on 22 November.

I threw out a call earlier this month for volunteers to teach in the history
track, and people responded! SO FAR we have:

THL Johnnae llyn Lewis [MKA Johnna Holloway], "Cookery Books Then and Now--
Society Favourites Through the Decades" [one hour] AND "The Book in Hand --
On Bibliomania and better ways to collect and find the books (new or used)
you want and need" [one hour];

Warder Christian Fournier [MKA James Klock], "Resources for Historical
Martial Arts" [one hour]

THL Guillane de Vaux [MKA Sue Sackett], "The Kitchens of Hampton Court
Palace" [two hours]

Sir Voros Janos [MKA Dr. John Staeck], "Introduction to Archaeology for the
SCA" [one hour]

I also have a rumor of another potential volunteer that I'm contacting.

The response was wonderful! UNFORTUNATELY (you KNEW there was a catch,
didn't you??], we need a few MORE classes to fill out the track. Cleverly
anticipating that, I also made the suggestion

> > Let me know what YOUR wish list is for History classes.

and the response to THAT was even better <grin>. Observe:

>"History for SCA Dummies - What you need to know to get by in the SCA
>without embarrassing yourself."

>Many years before that, a gentle in the Barony of Three Rivers (St. Louis)
>gave a series of short talks at the baronial meetings, introducing
>important technological advances, one century at a time.

>I could do that.
>
>On a related note, I used to give a History of Mathematics, from
>Euclid to Godel, with a strong emphasis on the Middle Ages, in an hour
>and a half.
>
>- - Midair

And people really took off on the idea of the top ten
events/occurances/developments of the Middle Ages theme, making all sorts of
really good suggestions.

NOW, how about some of you who HAD all these great ideas contact me to
volunteer?? Or convince someone else you might know to volunteer? We
REALLY need to get these on the website ASAP so that people can see the
AMAZING variety of information to be gained from coming to a RUM and
attending their choice of classes.

I'll make it EASY on you! You can contact me via e-mail, as the good
gentles above did, or you can see me THIS VERY WEEKEND and volunteer in
person if you are attending Crown Tourney.

Thanks in advance, and I return you now to your regularly scheduled day....
