Where?

My two favorites (not associated, just a happy customer):

Fabric store.com
http://www.fabrics-store.com/first.php
Their 3.5oz linen is *wonderful* for chemises, undershorts,
and Bogdan loves shirts made from it. Their heavier weights
are great for outerwear, such as dresses, pants, and shirts.
20 yards of the 3.5oz linen is $118 + s&h. Completely worth
it to me.

Dharma trading
http://www.dharmatrading.com/
I compare silk prices everytime I want/need some and Dharma
always comes out least expensive. Yes, you have to dye it
yourself. They sell acid dyes that I have never had a
problem using and have never had a problem with my wash or
wash machine after using. They sell white and black silks in
multiple weights. Even figuring in the cost of the dyes,
it's less expensive than buying colored silks from most
other places. (My wedding dress was entirely made of silk
purchased from here, including the lining, and it was less
than $300! Where can you get a wedding dress for that price,
much less in silk?)

Always wash fabrics before you cut them into your clothes
and you'll be able to wash them later rather than having to
dry clean everything. Laundry mats do have machines that
will take 20 yards of fabric at once! ;)

Buying in large amounts is also good for groups - get 5
people together to buy one of the 20 yard bolts and split
the cost. I've found that I get better quality with less
expense doing things this way.

I've got more sources but these are the two I use the most.

Smiles,
Despina
