The SCA is an amazing group of people. It continually surprises me.
Here is an update. Since I am friends alot of the cops in town they came over and did a mini-CSI type deal. No usable prints were lifted nor any other evidence leading to identification. Evidence leads the police to think it was a crime of opportunity and not planned. Like my good friend Ualdahlrich said, we think the Helm and Armor was taken simply as a side note. It was sitting out looking all shiny and tempting. It will likely end up adorning some alley dwelling losers dresser, or hopefully sold in a pawn shope. I checked in to claiming it on my homeowners. Not an option. The loss of claims free discounts and the ohio insurance surcharges applied to my insurance would make it so that over the next two years I'd end up paying the insurance company more than they'd pay me for the loss of the helm. Its a pain, but its life.
At this point I just hope some SCA person buys it in the near future and then some other SCA person go's "Hey, thats got to be someones stolen helmet"
I would like to express my gratitude to the whole SCA community. You could not believe the outpouring of support and friendhsip I have been shown. Many of you know the work and effort that went into building and aquiring what I thought was my masterpiece. Everyone from Knights to Ladies of the court have shown me the heights of chivalry and generosity. I lost a treasure, no doubt, but the treasure I have in all of you goes far beyond such paltry things as gleaming steele and polished brass.
With the deepest of Gratitude

Thank you for the advise Excellency. The theft was a break in to a garage where mostly tools were stolen. We think the thieves may have grabbed the helm because it was shiney more than any real knowledge of its use.
