Okay, here are some of mine.
Hands down, my favorite movie scene of all time is in Casablanca. The Obnoxious
Nazis are in Rick's playing the piano and loudly singing "Die Wacht am Rhein" --
and Victor Laszlo goes up to the band and says, "Play the Marseilles. Play it!"
The band looks at Rick, who nods, so they all stand up and start to play while
Laszlo starts to sing -- and the entire bar picks up the song. For a few
seconds, the two songs vie with one another, but the Germans sulkily sit down
and shut up as the entire bar echoes with the sound of the French national
anthem. It's an incredible scene, and a very emotional one. Sometimes, dammit, I
tear up watching.
I have many favorite film scenes, but that one takes the cake. All others pale
beside it.
