Actually, I have to put a vote in for the Atreides "cleaning house" scene in the
first part of Children of Dune -- as Chani goes through excruciating labor, Paul
sits in blindness gripping the chair, intercut with scenes of revenge, all to
the haunting refrain of one of my favorite musical passages, "Inama Nushif."
It's very Copolla/Godfatherian. It's another scene that I typically back up and
view a couple of times over when the DVD's in.
The troops stepping out of the woods to cross the field toward Cemetary Ridge in
"Gettysburg" (a tie with the entire sequence on Little Round Top as the 2nd
Maine fights off wave upon wave of Alabamans).
Kill Bill II, near the end when Bill (David Carradine) explains his philosophy
of superheroes and alter identities (not because that's a great scene per se,
but because it's such a fascinating idea and very perceptive).
