[Mid] 938 years later - "Battle of Hastings"

Blessed 'Hastings Day', everyone!

Remember to raise a glass at sunset today (even if but mentally) in
honour/honor of those who charged or fell at the ridge of Senlac nine
hundred thirty-eight years ago (calendar-wise). Many of us might not be
here now if it weren't for this seminal battle ...

I for one will give thanks to those who came, saw, and conquered on this
day in history - whose blood flows in my veins ('Le Batarde' is my 27th
Great-Grandfather on several lines) - and yes, even to the vanquished,
who also number amongst my real-life ancestors as well (Hardrada is my
28th Great-Grandfather on another).
