Hmmm, I'm not sure I am ready for warrior floor sweeping :-{)

The problem, as with so much of what we do in the SCA, is that we are viewing the Middle Ages and the Renaissance thru the lens of a bunch of '60's hippies asn seen thru the lens of the Victorians.

Our peerage orders in no real way simulate what went on in 600 AD much less what went on in 1600 AD.

Sooo, given that we currently have three orders _and_ I don't see that changing anytime soon I feel that the Chiv should stay being the Chiv for being the best at what they do in armor.

The rest of us who practice any art and science are stuck with the Order of the Laurel. Besides this more closely approximates the idea that most period folks would have had of a master of a guild who studies and teaches an art or science. And whether you like it or not most of the evidence we have for the teaching of the rapier, and other non-armored arts of defence, is that it was done in a guild "like" structure.
