I have been reading and thinking for a while on the nature of our
game/hobby/lifestyle. We as a group tend towards the assumption that one
who excels at their skill should be recognized for that skill. Those "great
ones" should be made peers. I say if they are truly great, they are my
peer, regardless of acknowledgement from their Royal Majesties, or their
respective orders. There will always be those who fit this description.
I, as a non-peer, have no idea the long and arduous process of becoming a
peer, or the difficulty of the current peerages and Royalty to pick, from
among such fine candidates, whom should be elevated at this time. However,
I respect the progress and the process.
I would submit that the Bronze ring warders are to me by and large peers.
I respect them for being the top of their skills, I give them deference and
respect, as they are due for being such and acknowledged as warder. I
realize they are NOT granted awards with Patent of Arms. However, that does
not diminish my respect and admiration for their skill.
As far as I can tell, what awards one has, does not affect my respect for
the person. It only affects the address I use when greeting them. I have
seen Knights, Pelicans, Laurels, and royal peers that are fantastic persons,
but I have also met their horrible opposites. I give the respect due to
their positions and move on.

If you think, the people you know are peers because of their skill, 1) write
them in for award recommendations (If applicable); 2) treat them as such; 3)
move on.
Change occurs slowly. Change can be painful. Rejoice in the knowledge that
if the majority want change, it usually occurs eventually. Go out and have
fun.

Respectfully submitted,
Deirdru ingen Mhurchada
