[Mid] You'll never guess what was in *my* backyard!

Let me preface my tale with this statement: I live in a small town of
about 10,000; my home is just a couple of blocks from the center of
town. I have a small backyard that's surrounded by a picket fence. The
town's not a bustling metropolis, but not in the middle of the
country, either.

...so, I'm home between classes. I've been busy working on homework
and decide to take a break. I walk into the kitchen to wash my hands
before making lunch and happen to glance out of the window.

The first thought that flew through my brain was, "Who the heck put a
stuffed deer in my backyard?"

Turns out, no one did. Mr. Buck put himself in my backyard! He was
laying there, legs tucked up beneath him, just as quiet as could be.

Not knowing what to do, I called the local constabulary. The officer
on the phone sounded less than convinced, but I assured him that it
was really a deer with horns, four legs, and all the other body parts
intact. A short time later, the fire department showed up and scared
him off. So far, no one has been injured and the only damage was, that
in his haste to depart, Mr. Buck knocked a couple of pickets off the
fence gate.

I guess that they're going to try to hunt him down before he hurts
someone. He's big and has an 8 point rack. And he's running around in
an area not far from an elementary school. A spooked buck is
definately not something to mess with!

We've lived here for 20 years. We've had skunks, stray cats, an owl,
and even a hawk, but never anything like today's visitor!

I now return you to your previously scheduled list. :-)
