Yes.

But I don't buy it. The argument seems to be that the
words drive the thoughts, but I think it's the
thoughts that drive the words. Calling a ruler a
tyrant or a child a brat carry a negative connotation
now, but that has not always been the case. I am
certain that, in the day, there were perfectly good
ways to say, "Our leader is cruel and overbearing" or
"That child is an uncivilized lout". Racists manage
to carry on being racists without any of the words
Hofstadter creates.

If someone, looking at Saradwen's calligraphy, told
her they were impressed by her craftsmanship would you
assume:
1) They were impressed by her craftsmanship.
2) They were a very erudite chauvinist and had meant
the above as some kind of slam.

It's possible, I suppose, for the person in scenario
two to exist, but I can't really imagine anyone taking
him very seriously.

New words for old contexts yield us little. It's the
contexts that needs must change.
