No chickens were sacrificed. There was no big ploy involved.

This is the first time the submission had been properly sent on to Laurel
with good documentation for consideration. It sailed through with very
little discussion.

"Evergreen" was easily documented to 1644 (within the "grey area" the
College uses for word/name documentation); therefore Laurel has registered
it.
