A point or two for America.
If PBS and NPR actually fill more than a niche market
then they should have no problem getting advertisers.
If they can get advertisers then whatever their political
leanings are, become irrelevant.
The actual purpose was to provide quality information
and programing that the networks did not.
With the advent of cable and sattellite, this has become
a mute point.
Since the niche markets of childrens programming and
higher culture programming are being filled by networks
like Nickleodian and the A&E network, PBS and NPR
have become nothing more than a drain on the taxpayer.
I personally, would hate to lose our local PBS station.
But as a good American, they should compete in the
open market.
An excellent solution to the problem would be for A&E
or Nickleodian to buy out some or all of the PBS
stations and become actual "broadcast networks".
And, before you have apoplexie, I am a registered
Democrat.
These are just thoughts, and mine alone.
But they are solutions to the problem.
Not the conditioned response to expect the government
to throw money at a problem.
