I was under the (aparently mistaken) impression that Disney Owned it for a while then sold it now re-owns it again... That is why the muppet Wizard of Oz is a Disney Film... And there has not been anything for quite a number of years for The Muppets...At least that was my impression....

As for Sesame street I have not watched it for almost 30 years so I may be a little out of the loupe there.....

Please do not let my husband know I am this dense on my Sesame street and Muppet history.. .He will kill me since he is a living muppet some days! LOL

Disney owns the Jim Henson Company. That's why, for example, Muppet
Treasure Island was a Disney film. You know, Kermit. Piggy. Fozzy.

And Kermit's on Sesame Street. The character, along with other Sesame
Street Characters like Big Bird, are licensed by the Jim Henson Company to
the Sesame Workshop (formerly the Children's Television Workshop) a
non-profit, which produces a ton of other shows, like Dragon Tales and
SPONK! Those shows are sold to PBS by the Sesame Workshop.

Jim Henson is, to this day, credited as a muppeteer on the show.
