Yeah, I'd agree with the broad brush thing. It's
probably the most offensively sexist things I have
ever heard, so much so that if a man said it with the
genders reversed, I imagine he'd probably recieve some
official sanction for it from the society.

"'Was' Honor, respect, freedom, etc." is correct
though. There's nothing much in there concerning
those topics.

I suppose, though, if the next time there was a heavy,
grunty, sweaty, messy job to be done if I volunteered
that time to sit out and "Let the women do it with
less muss and fuss" I'd be six-thousand kinds of
unchivalrous. Fortunately, - or stupidly, as the case
may be - I'm one of those mere male idiots that will
probably continue to do it even though I get this as
respect and thanks for it. Well, what the heck. I'm
only a man, so I'm just a dumb ox.

I remember a couple years ago some lady complained on
this list about being at an event, and unloading her
car and not one of the men stopping to help her even
though she was obviously overburdened. If that lady
is still here, sentiments like this are probably a big
reason why.
