Greetings from Dafydd Blaidd, system administrator
Yesterday at 2:30 pm I made an upgrade to the Mail Transport Agent (MTA)
which is Exim. This is the primary program for email delivery. I
upgraded from Exim 3 to Exim 4. After some testing I was satisfied with
the perfomance of the new MTA and logged off. Later that evening (6:00
pmish) I discovered what I believed to be a serious problem. It seemed to
me that all mail delivery to local addresses worked fine and that all mail
delivery to local aliases also worked fine *but* that only delivery from
local addresses to Majordomo lists worked and that delivery from remote
addresses to Majordomo lists was not working at all. After working on it
for several hours, I finally reverted back to Exim 3 where everything
seems to work fine again.
Did anyone experience email delivery problems from a remote address
(anything *not* @midrealm.org) to a Majorodmo mailing list between the
hours of 2:00 pm and 2:00 am?
Did anyone experience any other email delivery problems concerning
midrealm.org between the hours of 2:00 pm and 2:00 am?
Did anyone *successfully* send email to a majordomo mailing list hosted by
midrealm.org from a remote address and have it successfully delivered by
the mailing list between the hours of 2:00 pm and 2:00 am?
I really do need to perform this upgrade so any help would be appreciated.
Please reply directly to me (dafydd@midrealm.org) and *not* to the list
from which you receive this message. I also appologize to those who
belong to multiple midrealm.org lists who will receive this message once
for each.
