Another myth: You cannot pass simple armory; it is all taken.

Quite the opposite is true. For the first 30 years the SCA conflict checked against mundane armory. This lead to the SCA developing a rather cluttered armory style. But in the mid 90's we stopped doing that and only protect armory deemed important, this opened up a lot of beautiful simple armory. Sure if you want an dragon, eagle, lion, wolf, sword or other charge heavily used in the SCA you may have trouble comming up with a simple design you like that is clear of conflict. But it is always better to start simple and check than assume conflict exists and add stuff you do not need. The simple field and charge or field and group of three identical charges is often clear of all the cluttered SCA armory that may have the same field and charge but also has this and that in addition.

Keep it Simple,

Meister Konrad Mailander, Rouge Scarpe Herald
Apprentice to Master Brusten de Bearsul OP, OL(Gaming)
Squire to Sir Gunther von Brandenburg
Si hoc obstat, dejectum sit - If it's in the way let it be knocked down
