MK MoY Letters to the PALE

January 2007

Greetings unto the Noble People of the Midrealm from your Kingdom Minister of Youth,

As the new year arrives many of us ponder the years past and anticipate what life has in store for us in the next. We all spend that first day of January being thankful for another day to live and laugh and wondering if we will be able to keep our new year’s resolutions. Did you make one this year? I did. My new year’s resolution – no surprise here – has to do with the youth of our Kingdom.

In addition to continuing my work with Page School and trying to improve our youth activities in general, I will be researching and developing a program for helping youth coordinators and instructors teach and work with children that have special needs. Every child is special but some need extra special care. A child with special needs can be a child with medical, mental, emotional, behavioral, or educational needs that could require extra on-going attention. Each of these children have their own special needs and we will not be able to lump them all into one category and say – this is how you do this every time… nothing is ever that easy when working with children, be they special or extra special.

I hope to have the input of those whom have knowledge and experience in this area to advise me in the development of this program and also share their knowledge and guide our MOY officers and teachers as we move forward with this program. I would like to hear from parents and teachers of children with special needs. We need to hear your ideas, questions, experiences, etc. My contact information is in the Pale and on the KMOY website at: http://www.midrealm.org/mkyouth/. I am still in the process of gathering information so it will be a while before I have something to present to our Kingdom.

We need an Oaken Regional Minister of Youth to oversee local MOY officers within the Oaken region. He/She will support regional youth activities by assisting local officers, parents, and youth with questions and concerns as well as by participating in the organization and development of youth entertainment and educational activities. The Oaken Regional MOY should support Kingdom youth programs such as Page School, Midrealm Youth Craftsmen’s Faire and Prize Tourney, the RUM Youth Track, and Pennsic youth activities. He/She will be encouraged to strive for further development of current and new youth programs.

Other Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm about furthering youth activities and education.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Reliable email access.
  • Communication skills, answering all communication in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with all types of personalities.

Send a letter of introduction and your SCA resume to Countess Kenna Harve, Kingdom Seneschal and to me. We would like to fill this Regional MOY office as soon as possible.

In service to our youth,
Duchesse Sabine de Rouen
