April 2008 Greetings to all who hold our youth dear, Business first. The policy for youth activities at SCA events is to be as follows. There is to be at least one adult with a background check on duty at youth pointe and boffers at all times. In addition, there is to be an additional, unrelated adult present. If there are more than ten children present, Kingdom policy for staffing is to be followed. For specifics see http://www.midrealm.org/mkyouth/pdfs/Mkythpolicy.pdf . If either adult needs to step out for a time, someone needs to step in with the same qualifications. A suggestion for assisting with this issue when there are not “extra” adults available, is to plan to hold youth pointe and youth combat next to one another whenever possible. This allows for coverage in the event one needs to run for a drink or restroom break. Now fun stuff. If you are attending Spring Crown / Arts and Sciences and you are bringing your child, I encourage you be do two things. First, have you child bring a project to show in the Youth Craftsperson’s Faire. The rewards are many and the praise of the peerage and populace are wonderful. Second, take advantage of the many youth point activities available. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to have a productive, enriching experience. It also allows parents to sit back and relax a bit from supervision and watch your child enjoy the experience. Yours in Service to our Youth Anthoinette Previous Pale Letters Anthoinette Martel
