MK MoY Letters to the PALE

November 2007

Greetings to all!

As planning takes place for events in this wonderful game we play, I ask that autocrats as well as parents be mindful of our children. Providing interesting, safe, and visible activities for them enhances the experience for all.

Autocrats: take time to assure a safe, central location for children’s activities as well as at least a small budget for materials.

Parents: consider offering to coordinate children’s activities at your next event. You can get ideas and advice from local MOY’s, as well as regionals and myself. Contact information is in the Pale as well as on the website at http://www.midrealm.org/mkyouth/.

Please consider the many learning opportunities our society provides. Where else can young people learn honesty, civility, and teamwork when thumping one another with padded sticks? Where else can learning routine, procedure, protocol, and patience (think long courts) be so enhanced by kindness, creativity, and humor? Where else can service to others be so richly rewarded as the opportunity to eat the leftover desserts after assisting in whatever small way at feast.

As our youth are the future of our society, so to can the society contribute to the future of our youth.

Yours in service always

Anthoinette
