Bloomington Indiana and Environs

The Shire of Mynydd Seren is a local branch of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an organization which strives to help people learn about the Middle Ages in an enjoyable way. The Society offers something for just about anyone who has an interest in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the history of the people of those times, how they lived and worked, what they did to have fun, and so forth. Best of all, everyone gets to be a participant. You are welcome, so please join with us, make merry and learn.

The S.C.A. is an international organization with many regional divisions. Our Shire of Mynydd Seren (Bloomington, Indiana, in modern terms) lies within the Middle Kingdom, also known as the Midrealm. Feel free to follow the links to obtain more information about the S.C.A. in general or the Middle Kingdom in particular.

Local Information:

There are many opportunities for interested persons to participate right here in Bloomington. Our local group has numerous activity groups (often called guilds) that meet at various times each week. Consult our Local Happenings page to find out what is taking place when, and whom to contact for more detailed information.

The guilds provide a forum for teaching and discussion of various skills. Newcomers are always welcome, though you are advised to contact the leader of the guild in advance, so that they may better prepare for a new arrival. If the guild uses or produces items of a tangible nature, the leader can also give you an idea of what sort of materials (if any) you will need to bring or borrow in order to get started.
