A discussion of primary sources, techniques, and materials for assembling stained glass panels using period techniques

Intro to Medieval Embroidery
Lady Elizebeta
An overview of styles and techniques of embroidery and some hands-on learning on how to do the embroidery stitches. There will be limited amount of embroidery hoops for borrowing.

Intro to Migration/Conquest period Magyar (Hungarian) personas
THL Istvan Valkai
A brief introduction to the Migration/Conquest period Magyars. Areas convered include garb, weapons, military organization and tactics, food and drink, social organization, and a listing of major skills and trades.

Basic French Gothic Leaves Lord Thibaut Pomeroy de Machaut
A basic class with a snippet of historical context, then hands on practice constructing French Gothic Leaves, vine work, and then putting it together to make a scroll blank. Some materials will be provided, but participants should bring their own pencils, ruler, and straight edges. NOTE: This class is 1 1/2 hours long.

Frilled Veils of the 14th Century

An overview of the regional styles of frilled veils popular in the 14th century with emphasis on the Netherlands, Germany, and Scandinavia. Possible construction techniques and starching will be discussed. Small handout with references, no charge.

Viking Age Stitches
Lady Jorun Aragunnrsdottir
A brief discussion and examples of stitches and sewing techniques found in extant garments from Viking Age Northern Europe. Drawstring bag kits will be available for students who are new to hand sewing to practice on for a small, optional donation. Depending on the skill level of the majority of students, there may be some practice and demonstration time if requested.
