The story starts with Bastien Marius a wealthy merchant and traveler from Burgundy. Bastien was in the lands of Ire trading with a wealthy land owner. While at the business of trade he met a young lady. Gidget O’Kelly, who was a nun at a local church. The romance as torid as it was forbidden, and it was not very long after the start of it that Gidget was with child.
When Bastien left for his home he went with a new mistress and child in hand. Reynaud was born to Bastien Marius in 1361. Bastien and his new additions to the family returned to Burgundy in 1363. Bastien passed away in 1365 but
before he died he made arrangements for the best schooling and training for young Reynaud. He was the young favorite of Bastien and would be provided with the best teachers
Reynaud was trai
charge into enemy lines.
In 1372 Reynaud was with the house guard on a trip to Buda Pest (Hungary). Toward the end of the mission Reynaud was with Brannith and the others when they come upon a small child being beaten by an older gentleman. Brannith stepped in to stop this as Reynaud threatened the archer taking am on his brothers and sisters. Later it was found out that the older gentleman was a noble of high rank and office. Reynaud, and the others, were exiled from the country and barred from returning. Till this day there is still animosity between House Marius and the Hungarian crown.
At one point in the summer of 1374 Reynaud and the other young members of House Marius (Reynaud, Richard, Kyrien, Aragorn, Casamir, and Hector) were out on a hunting trip. They ran across what appeared to be a traveling circus, but in fact was a group of bandits that had trained stolen a bear from an estate in Pisa and trained it to meet their vile purpose. The bandits attacked the young Marius group and a fight ensued. Reynaud was a valiant guard and several times risk his life to block arrows and bolts from the bandits directed at his brothers and sisters. Reynaud is known for his great skill with a sword but even more for his skill with the shield! After the battle his shield was inundated with arrows and bolts from the bandits, but his job had been done well.
At this point several of his brothers started attending many local, and not so local, tournaments. Reynaud did not compete in many of these tournaments but did come along for protection.
