chatelaine_icon02

In the middle ages, the Chatelaine in the castle held the keys, trained the staff, kept  accounts, ordered supplies, and even taught the children letters and  numbers. For many children the Chatelaine was the first contact in beginning to  train for life as a squire. The Chatelaine was an integral part of  Medieval life, and then, as now, the Chatelaine's service is to guide  and teach.

As you step forward into the past, you will find  strange customs and new friends - fear not! All are noble and wish you  well as you begin your journey.

Chirurgeons provide first aid at events. (The word "Chirurgeon" is a medieval term  from which the modern "Surgeon" is derived.) Members of the  Chirurgeonate include Red Cross trained first aiders, medical doctors,  military medical corpsmen, nurses, paramedics, St. John's Ambulance  volunteers, and many other medical volunteers. A Chirurgeon's Warrant of office crosses Kingdom boundries.

The symbol of the Chirurgeonate is a red circle with a white teardrop  containing a fleam. The fleam was used in the Middle Ages to open a vein to bleed the patient in order to balance the humors. Rest assured,  however, that the first aid provided by the members of the Chirurgeonate is strictly 21st Century!
